What is the Roleplaying Mill?

You can visit the Roleplaying Mill at Beyond Dominia, under the sideboard along with the other mills. The Roleplaying Mill's origins lay in the Rumor and War Mills, where large numbers of people would gather to debate and argue Magic: The Gathering-related topics. Eventually, those people began to develop online personas, and began full-fledged roleplaying, making whatever point they choose in full characterization. Tensions between roleplaying characters and the people who played them eventually led to the Atog War, in which players and characters battled over an argument concerning the new races of Atogs.

A while after the first Atog War subsided in the Rumor Mill, Atog War 2 broke out--this time, the matter of contention was Wizards of the Coasts' treatment of the players with respect to tournament environments, or the merits of type 1 vs. type 2. The battles were as much a roleplaying event as a debate or argument. In the end, the bulk of Beyond Dominia patrons banded together to defeat the megalomaniacal Jake the Atog God, but the land was devastated and the need for a dedicated arena was clear.

And thus the War Mill was established by the powers that be at Beyond Dominia. The various Roleplaying characters were quick to populate this new world, and as they struggled to survive, many began to form powerful organizations called guilds. In a guild, several members (sometimes as many as 30) would join together under a common banner due to a shared goal or color affiliation, and enforce their will as a group. The guild institution remains in effect today, and a diversity of guilds can still be found in the Roleplaying Mill.

The War Mill was basically a free form Role-Playing world, where you simply create a character and hop in. There was no strict system, but simply basic codes of conduct that everyone must follow. After the War Mill's name was changed to the Roleplaying Mill, these statutes remained in effect.

The codes of conduct include but are not limited to 1.) Killing another player's character without their permission, 2.) Imping (impersonating) another player or their character, especially for the purposes of making that person look bad, 3.) Posting the actions of another player's character and making the character act extremely unusually, i.e. swearing and hitting other people when the character is normally a pacifistic individual, and 4.) Powertripping, or making yourself an all-powerful wizard/god figure. If you do not follow any one of these rules, your posts will most likely be ignored.

If you are new to the Roleplaying Mill but want to get involved, simply make a post explaining your character's arrival and people will help you out with whatever you need.
